Mission 500 Spreads Its Message At ISC West

Mission 500, an important non-profit initiative focusing its efforts on the security industry and dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis had numerous opportunities to spread its message at the recently held ISC West event in Las Vegas.

ISC organizers also did their part by providing booth space. Mission 500 volunteers assisted by Lisa Torres, area director for World Vision, were able to hand out information from a tabletop display located at the main entrance of the exhibition.

Additionally, ISC organizers supported a sweepstakes drawing that was held with prizes sponsored by ISC, Panasonic and Bosch. The winner’s names were drawn on Friday, April 4 at the show. The winners were: Spencer Sterling of Williams Electronics, LLC in Angola, Indiana who won the first prize of a trip to New York for two. Ellen King of ASIS International based in Virginia takes home a Panasonic 42” plasma TV, and Ed Michelson of MG Security Systems Inc. in San Diego, won a Bosch Power box.

During ISC West, cash donations of more than $2,500 were raised, and eight more children were sponsored by individuals attending the show. Together with another $5,000 from an anonymous donor in April, this increases the number of sponsored children to 180 in just more than a year.

“The ISC events’ support of Mission 500 allows us an opportunity to give back to those in poverty,” said Ed Nichols, industry vice president of the ISC portfolio of events. “We are proud to support such a well-respected organization that is changing the lives of children in need around the world.”

The goal of Mission 500 is to sponsor 500 needy children through World Vision’s child sponsorship program. It is a volunteer-driven initiative, and one hundred percent of the funds raised are channeled directly to World Vision. The globally renowned humanitarian organization provides food, clothing and education to those truly in need.

Corporate sponsors and donors toward Mission 500 include Altronix, HID Global, ISC West, LRG Communications, ExpoSeguridad Mexico, SIA (Security Industry Association), Security Products magazine, and Quaddrix.
