Matrox Graphics To Expand Portfolio Of IP Video Decoding Products
Matrox Graphics recently announced plans to expand its Security Solutions portfolio of hardware-accelerated IP-video decoding products. The company is exhibiting at Booth 4705 during ASIS 2008.
The technology is expected to transform security surveillance monitoring by offering a solution for decoding multiple IP streams from a variety of edge devices, such as cameras and encoders to true high-resolution, multi-display setups.
"Currently, IP security monitoring systems rely on software applications running on the system CPU to stream video, resulting in bottlenecks and dropped frames," said Alain Thiffault, business development manager for Matrox Graphics. "Our new IP video technology offloads the host computer and decodes multiple IP streams at the hardware level -- with a true 1:1 pixel ratio, from camera to screen. This allows operators to see everything and react quickly to any situation that may arise."
Matrox Graphics has a long history of graphics solutions for control rooms, traffic management and large scale visualization across display walls. The IP video decoding technology, already available for Matrox Display Wall products, will be integrated into a number of Matrox graphics solutions in the coming years.
"We are confident in our strategy because of our proven success in designing display controller boards for the security and surveillance industries," Thiffault said. "This decoding technology enhances our offerings and provides clear advantages for our customers."
Partners are a core part of the security solutions strategy -- Matrox offers an SDK so that security software vendors can easily integrate Matrox decoding technology into their own solutions. Matrox has also designed the platform to allow for rapid integration to support new codecs and cameras, and will continue this approach as the company moves forward with development of products based upon the technology.
