It’s ASIS Time In Anaheim

I'm a little bit early, but it does feel a lot like ASIS in the air. Only a couple of months left until the big tradeshow set for Anaheim, Calif. kicks off, and already we're looking for news tidbits and leads to make this show another success.

The tradeshow is scheduled for Sept. 21-23 at the Anaheim Convention Center, which, by the way, is only a stone's throw from Disneyland. One more note of interest, the Yankees will be in town at the same time, playing the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. If you haven't registered for the tradeshow, there's no better time than right now. The Web site is http://www.asisonline.com.

Just in case I haven't mentioned enough cool things to do, one of the keynote speakers is former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. She promises a sweeping look at global affairs. Rice is scheduled to speak at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23.

Just so you know, ASIS International has recently released its facilities physical security measures guideline. Its purpose is to outline the main types of physical security measures that can be applied to minimize facility security risks.

The guideline assists in the identification of physical security measures applied at facilities to safeguard or protect an organization's asset -- people, property and information. Eight categories are outlined, including physical barriers, physical entry and access control, security lighting, intrusion detection systems, video surveillance, security personnel, security policies and procedures and crime prevention through environment design.

Remember, if you haven't made plans already for attend the Fall spectacular also known as ASIS, get online and register. See you in Anaheim.
