The Lighter Side Of Security

Wednesday was our last day at ASIS and I thought it would be fun to highlight the lighter side of security.

You couldn’t miss Stanley Convergent Security Solutions’ booth as they were front and center with their massive sports-themed booth complete with cheerleaders, music, games and representatives dressed as coaches. The motivation behind the design was to “embody the best of both worlds -- global team with local players.”

At the show, Stanley introduced the following new services:

  • Commander Integrated Solution.
  • Sonitrol Advanced iBase Audio Verification Technology.
  • eServices Reports On-Demand.
  • 2009 Enhancements to eServices.

ACTi got people talking by hiring pretty girls dressed as school girls to drive traffic to their booth, which proved to be a very effective strategy.

There was a rumor that Erik Estrada was manning a booth and signing autographs. Although few people saw this, Vince Galdi, chief creative officer of LRG Marketing, confirmed his presence by telling us he, in fact, had lunch with him during the show.

GE Security generously provided a Relaxation Station with seated massage service for those who needed a break from visiting with the thousands of exhibitors.

Walking around the show floor was Hank Nolin, C.P.P., a retired U.S. Army Military Police master sergeant, and Peter Pan, a friendly and adorable yellow Labrador retriever drug detection dog. Nolin is president of Sun State Speciality K-9s, which specializes in the detection of illegal narcotics, explosive, parasites and dangerous molds in schools, factories, homes, aircrafts, cruise ships and more. Hank and Peter Pan have been together for more than 10 years.

Dallas, home to Security Products, will be hosting ASIS 2010. We are so excited the show is coming to our city next year and we are already making plans to take our security industry friends and colleagues and show them what Dallas has to offer.
