A Great Show
Attendance was a bit down at ASIS 2009, but spirits were up. In spite of the economy, many companies I visited with boasted about revenue and market share growth. They said even though traffic was lighter this year, the quality of leads they received was excellent.
Security Products also had a great show and I’m proud to say it was a landmark year for us. The launch of our New Product of the Year Awards was a rousing success and ASIS 2009 was the setting for the first time our editors videotaped interviews with industry leaders, such as Dortonics, Panasonic, Stanley CSS and HID Global right from the show floor. Our taping was such a buzz that companies stopped at our booth wanting to schedule their own interviews and offered to do impromptu videos right then and there. These interviews, along with videos and photos of winners accepting their awards will soon be available on Security Products’ Web site.
I have received e-mails from winners and entrants thanking us for the chance to showcase their products, and I’d like to turn that thanks right back to them because we owe the success to them. Some entrants have vowed to re-enter next year and new companies have already expressed interest in participating in the 2010 awards.
Please check out the winners on our Web site. The winners also will be highlighted on the cover of the December 2009 issue of the magazine.
ASIS 2010 will be a special event for us. Our city, Dallas, will play host and we predict the 2010 New Product of the Year Awards will be bigger and better because “Everything's bigger in Texas!”
