Getting Off On The Right Foot

Even before ISC East kicks off its’ annual event in New York, SIA is brining back its new product showcase. The event runs next week, Oct. 28-29, at the Jacob Javits Center.

I like new products and all they bring with them. There is a flurry of excitement when new products are announced, despite what the critics might say. New products and new technology have a definite role to fill in the security industry.

The latest innovations in security products will be on display in the center of the show floor. I am going to check this out, and I hope you will also.

A new feature this year is the Demonstration Theater, where manufacturers will present their solutions in action during the show. Space is limited, so be sure to register beforehand for the presentations you wish to attend.

Here’s another event I’m looking forward to attending. Well, I have to attend, but our Network-Centric Security publication will be hosting a theater session each day of the tradeshow. It also will be held in the theater each day from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Our first session on Wednesday will be a panel discussion on standards and interoperability. Representatives from ONVIF and PSIA will take a few minutes to discuss their organizations. Then Jim Henry of Henry Brothers Electronics will wrap it up. There will be a question-and-answer session following.

On day two Thursday, we will have a panel on school security. This is always a lightning rod for discussion and our three panelists will touch on the physical side of security, as well as IT security issues.

This will be an interesting time in New York and SIA has gotten off on the right foot this year.
