Prolexic Announces New CEO Scott Hammack

Prolexic Technologies, a provider of DDoS protection services, has named Scott Hammack as its chief executive officer. Hammack will bring more than two decades of security, networking and management experience to Prolexic. He also contributed $1.8 million to the last round of financing and will be joining the company’s board of directors.

Founded in 2003, Prolexic established global scrubbing centers to stop DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) attacks 'in the cloud.' The company leverages filtering techniques, high-speed bandwidth and peering, advanced routing and other patent-pending services, to provide advanced DDoS detection and network protection systems.

"Prolexic offers a degree of security for online businesses that is critical in today's world and a level of protection for businesses ranging from SMB clients, eCommerce providers to large enterprise businesses and government entities in a way which is well beyond what any other company can offer," Hammack said. "Our ability to protect the large enterprise customers is best represented by the fact that five out of the top 10 global financial institutions rely on us for network protection services."

Hammack has created more than $350 million in capitalization in the past 18 years through several technology ventures including, MasterChart Inc. and Cyberguard Corp. Prior to joining Prolexic, Hammack was brought in as chairman and CEO of Cyberguard Corp. to turn around the nearly bankrupt company from its recent de-listing from the NASDAQ Exchange, a pending SEC investigation and a class action lawsuit. Behind three years of Hammack's leadership, Cyberguard became a technology leader in network security solutions to Fortune 100 companies and governments worldwide. The company was re-listed on the NASDAQ Exchange, settled its class action lawsuit, accumulated $15 million in cash and grew its market capitalization to over $225 million.

Prior to Cyberguard, Hammack started MasterChart in the basement of his Illinois home in 1992. MasterChart developed an electronic medical product, attracted $10 million in capital from Harris Corp. in 1996, created several software applications and was acquired by Allscripts Inc. for $125 million in May 2000.
