Fujitsu Appoints Garrick Palmer to Spearhead Biometric Solutions Sales
Fujitsu Frontech North America Inc., a provider of IT-based business solutions, announced Garrick Palmer has been appointed to lead the North American Biometric Solutions sales effort for the healthcare industry. Palmer will report directly to Christer Bergman, vice president of biometric solutions.
Palmer brings more than 20 years of sales and sales management experience to his new role at Fujitsu. Most recently, he served as healthcare technology sales manager for Oracle Corp., an enterprise software and technology solution organization. Prior to Oracle, Palmer held positions at organizations including IBM Corp. and Cerner Corp., a healthcare software supplier, and was chief information officer at a community health system in Texas.
"Healthcare professionals recognize the challenges with protecting patient information and complying with government regulations. The need for convenient and secure ways to identify patients and manage information access has never been greater,” Palmer said. “PalmSecure technology is transformational. It fills a critical gap in existing market offerings and has been successfully deployed in healthcare organizations around the world. With the right solutions, the right team and the right partners, Fujitsu Biometric Solutions will help protect information privacy, drive down costs of healthcare delivery and reduce risk of insurance fraud. I am excited to join the team and expand Fujitsu's leadership position in biometric solutions.”
The PalmSecure sensor uses a near-infrared light to capture a user’s palm vein pattern, generating a unique biometric template that is matched against the palm vein patterns of pre-registered users. The biometric solution uses contactless, non-traceable and non-shareable authentication methods. PalmSecure technology has delivered benefits for organizations in a variety of industries, including healthcare, banking, IT, hospitality and education. It has successful applications in healthcare patient registration, time and attendance management, physical access control, government identity management, PC user authentication and OEM terminal devices, including point-of-sale systems and ATMs.
“Today, more than three million healthcare users in the United States rely on the Fujitsu PalmSecure technology to quickly, conveniently and securely confirm their identity. Hundreds of organizations globally depend on Fujitsu biometric solutions for their security and authentication needs,” Bergman said. “Throughout his career, Garrick Palmer has demonstrated his ability to successfully plan, execute and manage sales and partnering initiatives, making him the perfect addition to our team. I am confident that with Garrick on board, Fujitsu Biometric Solutions is poised for tremendous growth in 2011 and beyond.”
