Vivint Gives Back Launches 2nd Annual Online Campaign

Vivint, a home automation company, announced the beginning of the company’s second annual Vivint Gives Back Project, an online charitable campaign that could generate up to $1.25 million in contributions to non-profit organizations.

The 2011 Vivint Gives Back Project allows fans of the company’s Facebook page to nominate and vote for their favorite local charities in five different regions, including one region in Canada. The organization that receives the most votes overall will be awarded $250,000, while the charity in each region that receives the most votes will also get a $100,000 contribution.

Additionally, Vivint encourages its Facebook fans to make personal donations to their organization of choice during the second phase of The Vivint Gives Back Project Campaign. The company has committed a dollar-for-dollar match on these public contributions, up to $250,000, during specific times in the voting phase.

“When we started The Vivint Gives Back Project last year, we were blown away by the interest and support we received, and we are thrilled to bring the project back for a second year,” said Josh Houser, president of the Vivint Family Foundation, the company’s charitable division. “Service is a huge part of our company culture, and Vivint is committed to many efforts that help alleviate hardships in our communities. We are excited to be launching the 2011 Vivint Give Back Project, and hope to be able to continue and expand this important campaign for years to come.”

HOW IT WORKS

Phase One: Nominations: April 25 – June 11

Beginning April 25, 2011 fans of Vivint’s Facebook page can nominate or endorse their favorite local charity at http://www.vivint.com/givesbackproject. The top 20 charities in each of the five regions receiving the most nominations through June 11 will become Regional Finalists. The nomination period ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on June 11, 2011. Fans can nominate or endorse a charity once each day until June 11.

Phase Two: Voting and Matching Donations: June 14 – August 27

Starting June 14, 2011, fans can vote for the charity among the 100 Regional Finalists they feel has the most impact in local communities. Participants can vote for one finalist per day. Voting ends at 11:59 ET on August 27, 2011.

Also during this second phase of the contest, Vivint encourages fans to make donations to their charity of choice that are among the 100 finalists. On selected dates, Vivint will match voter donations made via the Gives Back Project website dollar-for-dollar up to $50 per donor and $2,500 per charity.

Awards: Date TBA

The eligible non-profit organization receiving the most overall votes will be named the Vivint Gives Back Project’s top charity and will be awarded $250,000. The remaining top charity in each of the five regions garnering the most votes will be awarded $100,000 each.

About Vivint Gives Back

The Vivint Gives Back project was created to focus the efforts of the employees at Vivint on banding together to alleviate hardship and restore hope for people in need. Through this program, Vivint employees have the opportunity to contribute time and resources to service projects ranging from clean-up efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike to providing meals at a Ronald McDonald House and adopting a local elementary school where our employees mentor and tutor students at risk in a long term relationship.

The 2010 Vivint Gives Back Project awarded $250,000 to the six organizations that received the most votes. Overall, fans nominated 263 non-profits and cast more than 260,000 votes. During the project, employees also participated in 7,500 hours of community service. Security Sales & Integration magazine recognized the project as the “Best Community Outreach Program” with a 2011 SAMMY Award.
