Dallmeier Selects Theia's Megapixel Lenses for New Dome Camera

Dallmeier has selected Theia’s two new 5-megapixel lenses for use on the new version of the DDF4900HDV dome camera that will be released at IFSEC security exhibition in Birmingham, UK May 16 to 19. In addition, the two lenses are now offered as optional accessories for use on all of their box camera lines.

According to Dr. Martin Theis, team manager for camera development at Dallmeier, "it has never been easier for me to be innovative and make our cameras more powerful than when using Theia’s megapixel lenses. Finding great megapixel lenses at competitive prices that fit into our dome camera is an achievement made possible by Theia’s precision engineering and innovation."

Theia’s newest megapixel offering, the SL940A telephoto lens, provides full 5-megapixel resolution to zoom in and deliver high detail images. The IR-corrected, CS mount lens has a focal length of 9 to 40 millimeters and is designed to let the user take full advantage of the ½-inch sensor used by Dallmeier’s new camera.

In addition, Dallmeier has selected the new SL183 1.8- to 3-millimeter, 5-megapixel, IR corrected lens with Theia’s patented Linear Optical Technology to provide up to 115 degrees undistorted horizontal field of view, providing the opportunity to cover more area with a single camera, potentially reducing the overall cost of system ownership.

Both new lenses offer a combination of true megapixel resolution and IR correction in a compact envelope of 50 millimeters long. Theia’s lenses maintain crisp, clear megapixel resolution images making them perfect accessories for Dallmeier’s Cam_inPIX technology. This image processing technology developed by Dallmeier itself, whereby the picture information of every single pixel is digitally converted at the point of capture and is processed in the most optimal way, makes it possible to record clear, high-contrast and color true pictures even in difficult lighting conditions. Digital noise reduction as well as numerous control functions like AWB, AGC or slow shutter, make further optimization of the picture quality possible.

Theia’s Linear Optical Technology provides an ultra wide field of view through all-optical distortion correction that removes barrel distortion without using software. Compared to typical wide angle lenses, Theia’s technology increases resolution at the edges of the image improving the ability to recognize subjects.
