STG Appoints Leah Fendley Tarbell as VP, Intelligence Group, Civil Agencies Sector

STG Inc. has named Leah Fendley Tarbell as vice president, intelligence group, in the civil agencies sector. In this capacity, Tarbell is responsible for the operation and oversight of a group that has revenues approaching $25 million.

“STG has long impressed me with its commitment to customer service and dedication to the intelligence community mission — values I hold deeply,” Tarbell said. “STG is big enough to bring significant intellectual and business resources to bear in helping the government face IT, management services and other challenges, yet small enough to move forward with agility and alacrity. Together with the entire civil agencies sector leadership team, I look forward to helping the intelligence group integrate the dynamic technical and business solutions expected from a high-performance organization like STG.”

Before joining STG, Tarbell was director of analytic and collaborative tools at Pherson Associates, where she served as a consultant throughout the IC on technology integration and intelligence analysis. Before that, she spent more than 27 years at the Central Intelligence Agency, retiring in 2010 after having served as a senior executive leading programs and initiatives in collection, analysis and language services — many global in scope. Most significant, Tarbell was responsible delivering Open Source Center’s award-winning website, OpenSource.gov, the intelligence community’s first product delivery website with managed content and interactive capabilities. Tarbell is the holder of a Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, an Intelligence Commendation Medal and a Balkans Service Medal.

“Language Services is a key focus for STG’s strategic long-term growth. Leah brings a strong record of innovation and successful technical integration from her tenure in the IC. Her vision and experience will certainly enhance our footprint in this market area,” said Mark Jendzejec, senior vice president, civil agencies sector. “Her record of leadership in open source exploitation and linguistic services is particularly impressive, and I look forward to working with her in expanding these areas.”

STG’s civil agencies sector focuses on providing performance-based support for management information systems and IT operations, providing federal agencies improved operational efficiencies and reliability of the IT environments they depend upon. This includes enterprise network, security and server operations; software and application development; enterprise architecture; Web design; business process reengineering; data analysis; test and evaluation support; enterprise help desk operations; linguistics; and financial management.

Ms. Tarbell has a bachelor of arts from the University of the South (Sewanee) and a master of arts from the University of Illinois. She studied Russian at Middlebury College, the Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) State University and Johns Hopkins University, as well as German at the Anglo-German Institute in Stuttgart, Germany.
