Samsung Techwin America Announces Strategic Partnership with SituCon Systems

Samsung Techwin America, a global supplier of video surveillance products, announced at ISC West their strategic partnership with SituCon Systems, an innovator of emergency awareness solutions that provide both safety and privacy. Launching the partnership and unveiled at ISC West was a Samsung SNP-3120 powered SituCam Privacy Protecting Camera .

While Samsung’s advancements in video surveillance technology continue to improve safety, privacy implications remain a struggle and frequently impede implementations. With SituCon’s patented technologies which consist of SituCam Privacy Protecting Cameras, an alerting system and software that makes video available only when needed, the benefits of video can be appreciated in areas where video is prohibited such as schools and universities, government buildings, healthcare facilities and any other place where privacy is a concern but safety and security remain critical.

“SituCon’s innovative approach to addressing safety and privacy makes them an attractive partner for us at a time when customers seek the best of both worlds,” said Frank P. De Fina, senior VP of sales and marketing, Samsung Techwin America. “This strategic partnership will allow deployment of our cameras in the ever-increasing areas where 24/7 surveillance is not an option due to privacy concerns.”

SituCam Privacy Protecting Cameras feature “eyelids” that remain closed until activated by one of SituCon’s wireless “Instant Alert” buttons. When one of these is pressed, SituCon’s software immediately displays who is in trouble and where they are located while SituCam’s “eyelids” open to provide real-time video of the situation. Now, when needed, high quality video is made available over either wired or wireless networks by Samsung’s SNP-3120 camera which features H.264 compression. The privacy of individuals is guaranteed at all other times by SituCon’s technologies.

“We’re proud to partner with a technology leader like Samsung to provide customers with a state of the art solution that further enhances their safety while continuing to guarantee privacy,” said Seth Cirker, president of SituCon Systems. “This partnership is indicative of our commitment to continually address the market’s needs, and we look forward to the opportunities made available by Samsung.”
