Catbird Names Board of Advisors

Catbird, a provider of security and compliance for virtual, cloud and physical networks, announced that the company has constituted an advisory board and named the first five members. The board includes industry experts, innovators and specialists in the fields of virtualization, cloud computing and security.

"We have assembled a diverse team of proven executives to assist in extending Catbird's leadership position," said Edmundo Costa, Catbird CEO. "Our board brings together technical expertise and essential operational know-how as the virtualization security market enters its growth phase."

The move comes amid strong momentum for Catbird, including a recent designation as a Gartner Group "Cool Vendor" and increasing adoption of Catbird in regulated markets such as PCI and the U.S. government. The advisory board draws together executives with unique backgrounds directly relevant to virtualization and cloud security, including representation by the types of customers who deploy such infrastructure, with the goal of leveraging their collective insights and experience.

The Catbird Advisory Board includes the following individuals:

Richard C. Schaeffer Jr., a former senior executive with the National Security Agency (NSA), with more than 40 years total U.S. government service, including 15 years as a member of the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service. He brings extensive leadership, management and technical experience in the area of information security and intelligence.

Pravin Kothari, founder and CEO at CipherCloud, which provides cloud data protection solutions. Prior to founding CipherCloud, Kothari was founder, CTO and interim-CEO of Agiliance, a leading GRC software company. Previously, Kothari was co-founder and VP engineering of ArcSight.

Shaw Chuang, former CTO and VP of emerging technologies at PGP Corp., and, as a director of engineering for VMware, a key contributor to the ESX 3.2 release. Chuang brings a combination of security and virtualization expertise to Catbird.

David Bernstein, managing director of Cloud Strategy Partners and former VP and GM of cloud computing at Cisco, brings experience building OS, application framework and systems software. He has created leading edge products in cloud computing, applications infrastructure, SOA and Web services networking equipment.

Sunny Azadeh, president and CEO of Acctuall Inc., an SaaS Silicon Valley startup focused on business intelligence and delivering financial and operational intelligence to the full-service restaurant industry. Azadeh's experience also includes more than 25 years in technology and 10 years as a C level executive with several high tech companies.
