Sotera Names William L. Cave Senior Vice President of Operations

Sotera Defense Solutions, a provider of mission-critical, technology-based systems, solutions and services for national security agencies and programs of the U.S. government, today announced that William L. Cave III has joined the company as senior vice president of operations.

In this role, Cave will work with Sotera President & CEO John Hillen and the leadership team to effectively execute the company's business strategy by providing overall direction and guidance for company operations. Cave will provide day-to-day leadership and management across all company programs and customer-facing operations to ensure that Sotera delivers operational efficiency, superior performance, continues to exceed the expectations of its important national security customers and meets its growth and profitability goals.

A U.S. Army veteran and long-time member of the defense and intelligence communities, Cave comes to Sotera from Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) where he served as senior vice president and program development director for the company's surveillance and reconnaissance business unit. In this position, Cave led top line development including business development, strategy, M&A and discretionary investments including internal research and development for a high-technology solutions and products business line focused on intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.

Prior to this, Cave served in multiple leadership roles within SAIC including line management and program management. He managed the sensor systems operation and the advanced systems and technology division. Before joining SAIC, Cave worked in the Central Intelligence Agency as a special assistant to the director and managed a team responsible for naval warfare analysis and collection.

Cave's 21-year career with the U.S. Army Reserve ran concurrent with many of his professional endeavors and complemented his experience in the defense and intelligence communities. Cave was called to active duty after the events of Sept. 11, 2001 and from 2001-2002 supported operations in Tampa, Fla., Afghanistan and Kuwait and was the lead civil-military operations planner for the U.S. Central Command in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and the initial planning for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Additional assignments included Joint Staff J5 - Iraq Political-Military Cell, 450th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne) and the 11th Special Forces Group (Airborne).
