Former Apple Executive Jon Callas Joins Entrust as Chief Technology Officer
Entrust Inc., a provider of identity-based security solutions, announced that Jon Callas has been appointed chief technology officer. Callas brings more than 30 years of experience to his new position at Entrust, where he will be responsible for shaping the direction of new technology and innovation, particularly as the company continues to develop solutions for mobile, as well as logical and physical security. He will report directly to Entrust President and CEO, Bill Conner.
"I am very pleased that Jon Callas will be joining Entrust's senior leadership team," Conner said. "Jon's deep understanding of mobile security, coupled with his recognized expertise in growing and leading software businesses make him a natural complement to our organization."
Prior to joining Entrust, Callas co-founded PGP Corp. which specialized in e-mail and data encryption software. Over the course of more than 15 years, Callas held leadership functions including CTO and CSO. Most recently, he also served as an operating system security expert with Apple. Additionally, he has held leadership positions with corporations including Wave Systems Corp., Digital Equipment Corp. and Counterpane Internet Security Inc. He has also authored several Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards including OpenPGP, DKIM and ZRTP.
"As technologists, our most important commitment is to our customers – the real people who use and interact with our products every day," Callas said. "I know that Entrust is committed to not only creating security solutions that address real world challenges, but also designing products that are versatile and easy-to-use. I'm looking forward to being a part of Entrust's continued growth and success."
