Corero Network Security Appoints CEO
Corero Network Security, a global provider of Network Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS) and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Defense Systems, has named Marty Meyer as chief executive officer to lead the company through its next phase of growth. Meyer joined the company in March 2011 as general manager and chief financial officer.
Meyer’s appointment follows the acquisition of Top Layer Security by Corero, announced in February 2011, the first step in the execution of Corero’s strategy to build a security systems business focused on the network security market. Top Layer subsequently rebranded as Corero Network Security.
“Significant growth potential exists for anti-DDoS and IPS technology to address ever increasing cyber-threats,” said Jens Montanana, chairman of Corero. “Marty and the management team have the requisite skill set and extensive experience to capitalize on this opportunity as we cement our network security leadership position through continued product innovation and execution of our aggressive corporate strategy.”
Meyer has more than 25 years of experience in finance, operations and engineering with both fast-growing start-ups and established technology companies. Prior to Corero, he served as chief operating officer and CFO at ExtendMedia where he was responsible for SaaS operations, finance, engineering, customer support and business affairs. He was a key member of the management team that successfully completed the sale of ExtendMedia to Cisco Systems Inc. in September 2010.
Before joining ExtendMedia, Meyer was COO and CFO of several high-tech start-ups including Bowstreet (now part of IBM), a provider of enterprise portal software solutions, Ucentric Systems (now part of Motorola), a provider of networked DVR software solutions and Xedia Corp. (now part of Alcatel Lucent), a provider of intelligent network routers. He started his career as an engineer for Stratus Computer.
Corero’s network security infrastructure solutions help commercial and government organizations protect critical online assets from the losses and risks associated with cyber threats. Its family of IPS appliances is designed with advanced protection capabilities against known and unknown attacks at high test performance rates. Corero also announced in June the launch of a new anti-DDoS product line, DDS, which provides advanced DDoS protection on both the network- and application-layers.
