MediConnect Global Taps Former CIA Operations Officer as Chief Compliance and IT Security Officer

MediConnect Global announced the appointment of Jack Vines, a former clandestine service operations officer with the CIA, to the position of chief compliance and IT security officer. With 12 years of high-level experience in the security and information technology industries, Vines brings MediConnect a wealth of relevant experience and expertise.

In his new role, Vines will direct MediConnect’s security operations and corporate intelligence, overseeing day-to-day security of clients’ data, as well as provide high-end, international security level protection for the company’s most important intellectual property. In addition to overseeing the integrity of the company’s networks, processes and people, Vines also will direct and monitor the company’s compliance programs, working closely with government agencies to ensure MediConnect’s continued compliance with all state and federal standards related to HIPAA and other healthcare-related regulations.

“Jack’s qualifications in the area of security and compliance are stellar, and he is someone I have come to respect as a person of absolute integrity,” said MediConnect Global CEO Amy Rees Anderson. “His extensive experience and training dealing with the protection of highly sensitive information and cutting-edge technologies will serve as a huge asset to our company and to our clients. I am confident Jack will apply the same dedication and attention to detail that characterized his service to his country in his new role of ensuring the highest standard of security for safeguarding the sensitive information of our clients.”

During his career, Vines personally led several of the CIA’s premier clandestine intelligence operations in some of the world’s most difficult environments, including dozens of countries throughout Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Vines planned and executed critical national security operations; collected and authorized mission-critical intelligence and provided subject matter expertise used by national policymakers to formulate policy and to craft the President’s Daily Brief and other high-level documents; recruited some of the highest-priority targets for the National Clandestine Service; coordinated and led joint intelligence operations with numerous government agencies, including, among others, the NSA, FBI, Department of Defense and Homeland Security. With strong operational expertise in information technology and languages, Vines earned three “Exceptional Performance Awards” and one “Achievement Award” during the course of his CIA service.

“I am impressed with MediConnect Global’s commitment to uphold the highest levels of security and compliance in order to safeguard the health information for their clients, as well as consumers,” said Vines. “It is an honor to join such an innovative company that is driving the transformation of healthcare by facilitating the secure exchange of health information around the globe.”
