ASIS, (ISC)2 Come Together to Present Picture of Combined Security Landscape

Recognizing the growing trend of blurring lines between physical and logical security professionals, ASIS 2011, which starts Monday in Orlando, Fla., will be co-located with the first annual (ISC)2 Security Congress.

For those of you who don’t know (ISC)2, the organization is the largest nonprofit body of certified information security professionals in the world, with more than 75,000 members. So along with the opportunities ASIS provides physical security professionals, the (ISC)2 Security Congress will offer a look into the world of IT security with a great number of education and networking sessions.

“The threat landscape is full of surprises,” said W. Hord Tipton, (ISC)2 executive director. “When breaches resulting from physical security vulnerabilities double twice in two years, the information security community must collaborate with the physical security community so we can present a unified front to combat these dynamic challenges. Co-locating our events opens and facilitates that critical dialogue.”

I plan to attend a number of (ISC)2 Security Congress education sessions and report back on some of the issues IT security professionals face, including such topics as cloud security and mobile device security. More information about the security congress can be found at https://www.isc2.org.
