MOBOTIX Equips Greenpoint Reformed Church with Megapixel Surveillance Solutions

MOBOTIX, provider of high-resolution, network-based security solutions, recently announced that Greenpoint Reformed Church, a 150-year old congregation in Brooklyn, N.Y., has deployed MOBOTIX high-resolution network cameras in its church located on Milton Street, just off Manhattan Avenue.

The church, a historic mansion once owned by Thomas Smith, founder of the Union Porcelain Works, provides a spiritual home to a diverse community of people. Its soup kitchen and food pantry provide food to over 650 people per week. It is a popular facility for celebrations and social engagements, and is used by several neighborhood groups including children's art and music classes, the youth soccer league, the runner's club, a meditation group and 10 different 12 step groups.

Greenpoint Reformed Church leadership sought out MOBOTIX to help increase security at the facility to protect its congregation and enhance security through the use of network video surveillance. MOBOTIX provided the facility with MOBOTIX high-resolution, IP cameras to enable the church to capture critical video data to use for investigative purposes in the event of an incident. The built-in megapixel sensors provide Greenpoint Reformed Church with highly detailed images while the network capability enables easy expansion of the system when needed. Furthermore, the church is able to leverage the benefits of MxControlCenter video management software and the MOBOTIX decentralized approach to surveillance, which enables all recording and storage to take place within the camera, reducing the need for a separate PC or DVR. The security features of the VMS also enable the church to allocate system access only to authorized users to prevent unauthorized viewing of video.

"We are very excited to be the recipient of this generous donation from MOBOTIX,” said Ann Kansfield, Co-Pastor, Greenpoint Reformed Church. “We are a church that doesn't exist for the benefit of its own members, but rather for the benefit of its entire community, and that comes with some risks. The MOBOTIX system allows us to minimize these risks so that we can remain open to serving our community.”

“We're happy to play a pivotal role in the Greenpoint Reformed Church’s efforts to secure their congregation," said Steve Gorski, General Manager, Americas, MOBOTIX Corp. "Network cameras provide superior image quality and are very easy to deploy, making them ideal for growing organizations."
