Modulo to Present Solutions for Cybersecurity and Risk Management at Olympics

Modulo, a provider of IT governance, risk and compliance (GRC) solutions, will present the industry’s first solution for cybersecurity and operational risk management of major events during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. This solution, implemented at the recent Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, allows for the management of critical infrastructure from a single command and control center. Modulo will also demonstrate an integration of its Risk Manager software with Tyco Integrated Security, a leading global provider of physical security solutions.

These presentations will be part of the “Brazil at Heart” exhibition, created to showcase select Brazilian innovations and capabilities in preparation for the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games, which will be hosted in Brazil. The exhibition will take place at the Brazilian Embassy during the 2012 Olympic Games in London, commencing with an inauguration by Brazil President Dilma Rousseff on July 26, 2012.

The convergence of governance, risk and compliance (GRC) management platforms with physical security management capabilities – such as physical access control, alarms and video surveillance - represents the next step in helping protect major events, Critical National Infrastructure (CNI), government facilities, smart cities and more. By working closely with Tyco Integrated Security, Modulo will demonstrate how C-level stakeholders can gain unprecedented visibility into their overall risk posture for better situational awareness, incident response and decision-making.

“Modulo is honored to be selected to participate in this exhibition during the 2012 Olympic Games in London and to work with Tyco Integrated Security to expand our best-in-class solutions, used by organizations and governments around the world, to manage security and risk for sporting events and other large-scale international events, including the recent Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development. The event was attended by more than 19,000 people and generated close to 10,000 incidents, and featured the latest innovations in mobile device support,” said Sergio Thompson-Flores, CEO for Modulo. “These developments reinforce Brazil‘s readiness to receive the World Cup in 2014 and the Olympic Games in 2016.”

Modulo has participated in similar projects during other major events, including the Vancouver, B.C. Winter Olympics in 2010, the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, and Sao Paulo's Grand Prix of Formula 1 and Indy 300.

By feeding data into Modulo’s GRC platform, security managers can rationalize massive amounts of information to gain actionable intelligence; optimize their workflow, policies and reports based on trend analysis; while at the same time offering enhanced tactical ‘in the moment’ control over situations monitored by physical devices, such as locks and cameras, to catch multi-pronged attacks.”

The award-winning Modulo Risk Manager includes methodology and technology for integrated risk management, continuous monitoring of incidents and information security for critical infrastructure protection and major events. Through a combination of a command and control center, integration with physical security devices, data collectors via smartphones, tablets and automated analysis of content in social media, Modulo’s solution can identify, prioritize and provide agile responses to treatment of risks and incidents that may affect the continuity of business processes. Modulo Risk Manager offers an easy to use web-based interface via control panels with geo-referenced maps, dashboards, tables, charts and videos.

The demonstration will feature several products integrated with Modulo Risk Manager:

Hexagon’s Accur8vision is a volumetric detection system that employs LiDAR technology to safeguard entire areas. Whenever it detects movement in a specified zone, it automatically differentiates a threat from a nonthreat, and immediately notifies security staff if necessary. Person detection is carried out within a radius of 80 meters from this device. Connected remotely via a portable computer device, it enables remote surveillance and does not depend on security staff patrolling the area. 3
