ASIS 2013 to Take Security to Chi-Town

The Windy City. Second City. That Toddling Town. The City of Broad Shoulders. Even, The Big Onion. Chicago has been known by many names in its 175 years as a city. In 2013, it will be the “Sweet Home” of the 59th Annual Seminar and Exhibits when ASIS International sets up shop Sept. 24-27 at McCormick Place, situated right on the shore of Lake Michigan.

Even though the Philadelphia experience is still fresh on all our minds, it’s not too early to look ahead to next year’s big event, which will again bring together systems integrators, manufacturers, service providers and security experts of all stripes from more than 90 countries.

In the nearly six decades of the ASIS show, Chicago has been a favorite site to return to for organizers and attendees alike. The city is home to world-class entertainment, variegated and exquisite restaurants, historic landmarks, timeless architecture and that extraordinary skyline that is recognized the world over.

McCormick Place is located just south of Soldier Field and such well-known sites as the Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, and the Field Musuem, all of which are a short taxi or water taxi ride away from the famous Navy Pier, a 3,000-foot-long jetty that houses retail stores, restaurants, museums, exhibition halls and auditoriums. The Pier’s 150-foot-tall Ferris wheel is one of the most visited landmarks in the Midwest and a reminder that Chicago was the first city in the world to erect such a ride.
