aptiQ Developer Network Fosters Use of Smart Phones as Access Control Credentials

aptiQ Developer Network Fosters Use of Smart Phones as Access Control CredentialsBy joining the aptiQ Developer Network, access control developers can take the first steps in leveraging aptiQmobile, the new channel-friendly way of delivering mobile credentials to their customers. Membership in the aptiQ Developer Network offers access to Ingersoll Rand resources that will work closely with the developer to help them write the appropriate interface between their software and Ingersoll Rand's cloud-based aptiQmobile service.

As a result, developers will be able to give their current software programs the ability to issue mobile credentials. From that point on, their customers will be able to quickly and conveniently use their phones in the same way that they use smart cards – with the open architecture functionality and high security of MIFARE, used by governments to enhance protection.

“The aptiQ Developer Network provides a channel-friendly, customer-centric way of bringing near field communications (NFC) to market, letting aptiQmobile providers become the innovative suppliers of this convenient way to use a mobile access control credential,” explained Jeremy Earles, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies, portfolio manager, credentials and readers. “The aptiQ Developer Network helps create the tools they need to assign a credential in their software, the same way they do today but with the added feature of deploying the credential to a mobile phone."

Their software will relay the request to the aptiQmobile service and Ingersoll Rand will take it from there. aptiQmobile verifies the phone and passwords, plus issues the credential directly to the end user's phone.

“Our goal is to make NFC smart credentials as customer-friendly as possible,” added Earles. “Market demand is increasing dramatically, and this program will give developers a head start in the mobile credentials market to ensure that they are one of the first to offer this new and exciting innovation to their customers.”

More information is available by visiting Booth 20029 at ISC West between April 10-12 at the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas or by contacting Earles at Jeremy_Earles@irco.com.
