It's a Blockbuster Year

This quickest way I can tell if ISC West is successful is the number of people I weave through in the aisles, and if my feet hurt at the end of the day. Day Two has been a blockbuster.

It was my good fortune to have an exclusive interview with Bernhard Schuster, executive vice president of security systems at Bosch, and Eric Fullerton, director of marketing at Milestone Systems, to find out what these two companies are doing together, and the different it makes in a security system in the open architecture.

It is a seamless integration of Bosch IP video devices from Bosch within the XProtect IP video management software from Milestone. Both companies claim this is a market-leading integration between the two companies. For Milestone, it means this uniquely deep integration supports all of Bosch's IP cameras with their existing leading edge features and capabilities.

"We work well together, providing a certification of software and hardware," Schuster said. "It also adds value to our end users. It provides a deeper integration within the technologies."

The dedicated driver pack covers a wide range of functionalities, including multistream, dynamic discovery, edge storage, motion alarms, H.264 compression and embedded intelligent video analytic events.

Perhaps most interesting is that engineers from both companies are communicating, and because of this a pipeline of projects where the two companies participate is growing.

"Teams come together in different countries, providing insight and solution," Fullerton said. "Projects that may have been out of reach before now have unmatched functionality.

"This gives end users the freedom of choice."

Other products that were of interest today included the Pacom Unison, recently launched into the American market. It is a product-agnostic security management platform designed for campus organizations. It has the ability to unify different technologies, systems and applications into one simple common interface.

The product is suitable for prisons, airports, universities, hospitals and other market segments where rich system integration is in demand.

I expect that Day Three will be just as busy, and I'm sure my feel will hurt all the way back to Dallas. Three days well spent among friends and technology and integration experts.
