Biometrics Help Speed Up Airport Security Checkpoints

Airports around the country are using biometric technology to speed up airport checkpoints.

Airports around the country are working to help speed up security checkpoint lanes to allow travelers to get through security faster while ensuring the security and safety of airports.

In an effort to bolster security, airports are partnering with biometrics company CLEAR. The technology is designed to give travelers a fast track to security screening by using their fingerprints or iris-scans as identification.

Rather than waiting in line for a TSA agent to wave travelers through, you walk up to a kiosk scan your fingerprint and iris and head to screening.

CLEAR technology is currently available at more than 35 U.S. airports and stadiums with more than 2.5 million people in its database, according to the company. CLEAR takes the responsibility of protecting the data for these millions of people very seriously.

"Privacy and data security are at the center of everything we do at CLEAR," a company spokesperson said. "Whether boarding a plane or making a purchase, our members rely on us to keep them, and their information, secure. We are fully committed to protection our customers' data in all our technology systems and operation processes. Out platform is SAFETY Act Certified as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology and member biometric data is encrypted at all times."
