Why It's Possible to Prevent School Shootings - and How to Do It
In this webinar, Dr. Marisa Randazzo will explain what she and her team learned from their interviews with school shooters, from their analysis of decades of school shootings, and from their experience evaluating and intervening in thousands of threat cases. Randazzo will share information from her time at the Secret Service in first launching this research and in the decades she has spent training school, law enforcement, and mental-health professionals how to respond to threatening behavior and intervene to reduce risk - including understanding the pathway to violence and how to get someone onto a better path. The webinar will include examples of averted attacks, as well as case studies of school shootings.

Dr. Marisa Randazzo
As Executive Director of Threat Management, Dr. Randazzo provides strategic consulting, program development, and training services in behavioral threat assessment, threat management, and violence prevention for safety and security professionals at major corporations, educational institutions, and government agencies. Prior to Ontic, Dr. Randazzo was the Chief Executive Officer and founder of SIGMA Threat Management Associates LLC, acquired by Ontic in September 2021. At SIGMA she oversaw all of SIGMA’s threat assessment training and consulting operations as well as strategic initiatives, providing daily management and visionary leadership to all of SIGMA’s work. She is an international expert on threat assessment and violence prevention, with over 25 years of experience investigating, assessing, and managing a broad array of threatening and dangerous situations. Before creating SIGMA, Dr. Randazzo served for ten years with the U.S. Secret Service, most recently as Chief Research Psychologist, and has co-authored several leading books on threat assessment.

Chad Martin has served as Superintendent of Jefferson Joint School District 251 in Rigby, Idaho, since 2018. He has held positions at the college level, as a middle-school principal, and as a high-school English teacher.
