Two Dead after Ex-Employee Opens Fire on Transportation Company

Officers in Katy, Texas are responding to calls on Wednesday, May 4 of an active shooter at a transportation company not far from Houston. The sheriff said the case seems to be that of a disgruntled employee who was fired the same morning.

The ex-employee brought a shotgun to Knight Transportation and open fired into the building. As a result, two were killed and another was injured. Police say that the shooter is down from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The dead have been identified as a supervisor at Knight Transportation and the shooter. A deputy was hurt when he banged his knee as he went into the building.

It was discovered that the shooter had with him a shotgun and a pistol but only the shotgun was used in the crime. The pistol was not fired.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office High Risk Operations Unit searched the building to make sure no other victims or shooters were inside.

For now, there is no information available on the gunman at this time. It is also not known if the supervisor who was killed was the one to fire the ex-employee.

Morton Ranch High, Morton Ranch Junior High and Morton Ranch Elementary schools along with Franz Elementary School were placed on lockdown after the shooting as a precaution, officials said. The lockdown was later lifted.
