How to Help Stockton

The security industry is filled with security professionals, like myself, that not only welcome challenging events but seek them out. In this case, Stockton, California is having a perfect storm of issues. This perfect storm includes financial issues (bankruptcy) that prevent the funneling of money into additional policing services, a rising crime rate to the point that the murders this month almost match their last year total, and an economic scale that doesn't show any sign of rapid improvement. As a security professional, a quick look at Stockton looks like a great challenge and one that many of us would welcome.

However, how do you stop rampant shootings, murders almost daily, and the 7th grader from taking a gun to school and pulling it out in class to show his fellow students? In most articles, we paint this picture with a solution at the end of how great we were to solve the problem; but speaking from a security professional's standpoint with a large Stockton client base, there is no easy answer other than to protect the critical assets and wonder when the call goes to a state of emergency or critical response within the city limits. What do you think the solution is?
