ESX Product Preview
One of the best parts of my job is getting to go to trade shows and being up close and personal with some of the products I write about each month for the New Products section of Security Products magazine. I’m constantly blown away by the passionate innovations brought to life by manufactures in the security industry, so allow me to preview a little bit of what I saw on our trip to the Electronic Security Expo in Fort Worth this year.
nexTouch Z-Wave Deadbolt
Designed with small businesses in mind, Yale Locks & Hardware, has created a deadbolt that integrates the Z-wave platform into the locking system. The Yale nexTouch provides lock owners with a wireless access management solution with the security of commercial grade locks and the convenience and cost-efficiency of a wireless installation. The keypad access lock can be integrated into new or existing alarm and automation platforms, such as those from Alarm.com, Control4, Honeywell and iControl. The nexTouch was selected as the 2016 ESX Innovation Award winner.
10G Web SmartSwitches
TRENDnet introduces two new cost-effective switch solutions with full-duplex network connections featuring groundbreaking 10G networking speeds. Fiber support on each 10G switch enables reliable, long distance networking applications. Smart fans reduce energy consumption and auto adjust for efficiency. Managed features include access control lists, VLAN, IGMP snooping, QoS, RMON, SNMP trap and syslog for monitoring and flexible network integration. The convenient and easy-to-use web-based management interface offers features for traffic control, troubleshooting, access control, and monitoring, allowing for network integration flexibility into an SMB network.
TRENDnet’s 12-Port 10G Web Smart Switch, model TEG-40128, features eight 10GBASE-T ports, two 10GE SFP+ slots, and two shared 10GBASE-T/10G SFP+ ports. The 28-Port Web Smart Switch, model TEG-30284, features 24 Gigabit ports and four 10G SFP+ slots.
Time of Flight People Tracker
3xLOGIC showed of their new VISIXT Time of Flight (ToF) camera at ESX this year. The camera is a special purpose, low-cost smart people tracker for queue management and people counting, combining state-of-the art 3D imaging technology with intelligent video analytics. It includes high-performance advanced analytics as a standard feature, improving measurement accuracy when compared to the current generation of thermal and stereoscopic cameras. This device has a high-quality video analytic tracking system and has excellent performance even in the most challenging lighting conditions or when one object is partially obscured by another.
This camera also supports Stationary Queue Measurement and no object movement is necessary for maintaining tracking. The ToF camera’s automatic calibration foregoes the often complex and difficult calibration process required in order for the analytics engine to classify objects into different object classes. Integrating 3xLOGIC’s advanced tracking engine into ToF contributes to improving the video analytics performance. Using a state-of-the art infrared sensor and specially designed lenses, the ToF is perfect for retail use.
