After Columbine, the United States Secret Service released the Safe School Initiative.  In this session, we will review the techniques and best practices from the report, and discuss how schools across the United States have prevented targeted acts of violence and active shooter events using Threat Assessment Teams.

Session Learning Objectives:

  1. Attendees will learn how leakage during the stages of an active shooter/targeted act of violence event can be used in threat assessments.
  2. Attendees will learn behaviors exhibited by potential offenders can be used to implement the threat assessment and engage the Threat Assessment Team.
  3.  Attendees will learn how to appropriately identify and respond to threats.
