Daniel J. Palmer, Sr., Safety and Security Assistant Manager, Chesterfield County, VA, Public Schools
Serving for 32 years as a middle school assistant principal/principal, Mr. Palmer took over as the safety and security assistant manager at Chesterfield County public schools. He served in these two capacities in Spotsylvania and Chesterfield counties. Mr. Palmer has a bachelor of science degree in biology and a Collegiate Professional Teaching Certification from Lynchburg College, 1978. He also earned a master of education degree in administration and supervision: Pre-k – 12, from the University of Virginia, 1986. The past nine years, he has served as the safety team leader and critical incident team leader at the school level. He has been in his current position for two years in a school district that has more than 63,000 students in 66 buildings. Mr. Palmer has served on the Chesterfield County Interagency Safety committee for 10 years, and has been a presenter at the following conferences – Virginia Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Virginia Association of Secondary School Principals, Virginia Middle School Association, Metropolitan Educational Research Consortium at Virginia Commonwealth University. He also has presented “Safety and Self Awareness” seminars to staffs in both Spotsylvania and Chesterfield County schools.
