JRT Associates Showcases Radiation Monitor
JRT Associates recently showcased the Sentry 8501 Portal and Area Radiation Monitor at ISC East. The Sentry 8501, a comprehensive system, provides radiation detection, a built-in multi-channel analyzer for isotope identification, visual and audio alarms, photographic identification and remote notification.
When a radiation event occurs, local alarms are triggered, the date and time are recorded, the location of the portal or area is noted, the event is photographed, the radioactive material is identified, an isotope spectrum is recorded, and remote notification occurs - all within seconds. The system requires no operator intervention or extensive training.
The Sentry 8501 can be used for security in airports and ship, train and bus terminals for monitoring passengers and cargo or at entrances to sports arenas and stadiums, civic centers, hotels and other public and private facilities.
It can also be used for Emergency Response radiation monitoring in Emergency Rooms or at other hospital entrances. Fire, police and hazmat teams responding to situations where gamma radiation contamination may be present can use the Sentry 8501 to detect the presence of high radiation levels before entering an area. The system can also be used for waste monitoring in hospitals, laboratories and research facilities or waste transfer stations.
