Texas School District Chooses Wren Video Solution

Wren, a provider of physical security solutions that create safe learning environments, announced recently that Water Valley School District has selected the company's Encapsulon Video solution for improved school security, easy access to IP video and scalability to allow the school to grow its video network across the entire school district over time.

According to James Ditmore, director of IT for Water Valley Independent School District (ISD), he recommended the school move to IP video after operating for years on low-end cameras attached to a VCR. Ditmore was looking for a simple, streamlined, scalable IP video surveillance solution.  In addition, he needed a system that would be easy to use, enabling administrators and other staff to use video whenever they needed it -- not just in an emergency.

"Encapsulon Video offers us immediate performance plus long-term scalability," said Ditmore. "The purpose-built appliances made upgrading our video surveillance system to IP an easy plug-and-play process and we can add cameras on demand, as budget funds become available.  It's a very practical solution that will accommodate our needs for the long-term, and even allow us to integrate IP access control with our video in the future, should we decide to do so."

Encapsulon Video is the video application of the Encapsulon Physical Security Suite that simplifies surveillance deployment. Architected for usability and long-term reliability, Encapsulon Video offers simplicity and cost-effectiveness. Features include:

Plug-and-play video functionality that includes out-of-the-box software and purpose-built appliances that integrate seamlessly with existing IT networks, requiring minimal IT resources and training.

A Web-based application that delivers convenient user access without the hassle of IT-intensive management of software on individual computers. The software offers access to unlimited users, encouraging widespread use of video in areas beyond security such as operations, risk management and customer service.

Architected for performance and scalability, Encapsulon Video accommodates existing analog and new IP cameras, making the most of legacy equipment, while also providing a platform for future technologies.

In addition to deterring unwanted behavior in the new school year, Ditmore will be taking advantage of the system's user-friendly interface and accessibility to data to also observe any operational improvements that can be made in the school; such as how the school can better prepare for an emergency, manage student traffic at the start and close of the school day and overall, provide a safe environment that is the most conducive to learning.
