Happy Birthday, Jerry

Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, celebrated his 39th birthday again yesterday. Doesn’t have much to do with security, but Stanley Black and Decker, along with Stanley Commercial Security Solutions brought at least 500 of their closest friends to Cowboy Stadium Wednesday night to help celebrate the occasion.

I’m thankful to be counted among the closest friends group as Stanley opened up the stadium to their friends in the security industry.

Jerry’s house is new, and was expensive to build. By his own admission, Jones said the stadium cost $1.2 billion. Four hundred million of the money was set aside for luxury. The confines of the stadium are luxury like you can’t believe.

Jones also told a story to the security group, highlighting when the stadium was nearly complete, they had a large room filled with tequila. Problem was, they hadn’t put the locks on the tequila room yet. Didn’t take long before the room was empty.

Just goes to prove that security is an essential part of any build.

Stanley officials outdid themselves by hosting Overtime at the Cowboys Stadium. They opened up the VIP Club then let attendees enter the field with the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders lining the entryway. You know what, those cheerleaders all have perfect teeth.

Stanley also hosted a punt, pass and kick event, somewhat like Ford Motor Co. sponsored 45 years ago. I tried the kicking portion; I won’t be quitting my day job anytime soon and hoping for an NFL contract.

Stanley also trotted out former NFL and Cowboys’ greats Charles Haley and Drew Pearson. What you might not realize is, those Super Bowl rings that Haley earned are much bigger that a regular ring. They are pretty impressive.
