Sprint to Offer Omnilink Asset Locator to Track High-Risk Cargo

Omnilink, which provides pre-built applications for tracking people and assets, announced that Sprint will offer its asset locator tracking service through its business direct sales channel. The Omnilink Asset Locator solution, which operates on Sprint’s the nationwide network, offers companies a tool for tracking assets at risk for theft, such as: bank bags, ATMs, computers and data storage devices, vehicles, consumer electronics and designer apparel, liquor and cigarettes and pharmaceuticals.

In the United States alone, millions of dollars in assets are stolen or lost every day. Theft occurs at all stages in the supply chain and represents crippling losses for companies; the financial impact is enormous: At least $15 billion in ground cargo is lost or stolen annually, more than $1 billion in heavy equipment is lost or stolen each year, and consumer electronics, food and clothing are the three most stolen products.

"With the Omnilink Asset Locator, organizations have an easy, out-of-the-box solution for securing assets in their supply chain, on properties, or in the field, that will reduce the amount of loss due to theft or frivolous behaviors," said Steve Hudson, vice president of strategy for Omnilink.

Through the combination of the Nationwide Sprint network, the Web-based Omnilink Asset Locator application and a ruggedized, dedicated tracking device, companies can rapidly begin tracking and recovering lost or stolen cargo, packages, tools, equipment and more. The simple combination of these three components provides users with a range of features, including:
  • Real-time location of assets indoors or out;
  • Accurate tracking modes to aid in recovery;
  • Zone management to alert when assets enter or leave areas of interest;
  • Location history for up to one year; and
  • Online asset location visualization with dynamic maps and views.
