Something For Everyone

ISC West is the platform for the newest technology to hit the security market. Organizers have timed the tradeshow for this part of year because manufacturers work diligently to showcase research and development for the past year. My job is to provide something for everyone.

From the research arm of IMS Research, more than 1 million security cameras were sold worldwide in retail stores, mainly because of a rise in domestic crime. In the United States, 15.6 million homes were part of property crimes in 2009, and video surveillance options play a key role in protecting the home.

Technology, and some of the brightest minds in the industry, have made video surveillance options easier to use.

According to IMS market analyst William Rhodes, consumer video surveillance equipment can be set up quickly and installed without complicated wiring or configuration. Homeowners can enhance residential security simply and cost effectively.

Granted, this is not the majority of security solutions you’ll find today during the opening day of ISC West, but it is one small thread of what makes the security business tick. Home surveillance camera installations represent a forward movement toward new technology, and it provides evidence if a homeowner is a victim of a crime.

Opening day at ISC West is the most exciting and interesting day of the three-day affair. Everyone attending is primed to showcase the best of the best. I’m looking forward to examining numerous products, and shaking a few hands.

There are hundreds of booths from which to pick, and in my business, I try to get to as many as possible. Please watch for tomorrow’s report on what I’ve seen and what I think is most interesting to the security market.
