City of Houston Selects BRS Labs for Citywide Surveillance Initiative

The fourth largest city in the United States recently deployed an artificial neural network-based video surveillance analysis software to identify potential criminal or terroristic behavioral activity throughout the city.

Now, the roughly two million residents living with Houston, Texas city limits will feel secure; as city leaders take steps to mitigate security threats. Software developers BRS Labs' video surveillance software was chosen as part of Houston's citywide surveillance program.

"BRS Labs' software has been selected by the City of Houston's video surveillance program and is being deployed in an effort to proactively identify unusual behavioral activities and notify security and law enforcement staff of the potential threats detected", according to Maurice Singleton, subject matter expert and security technology advisor for the City of Houston. "The ability to collect advanced video surveillance intelligence reflects the city's commitment to proactively identify potential threats throughout city operations," Singleton said.

Specifically designed to autonomously serve as the eyes and brain for large scale critical security environments, BRS Labs' software, AISight, is able to attach to existing video surveillance infrastructure and watch, learn, and identify unusual behavioral patterns in real time.  This advanced video surveillance technology will be incorporated into the City of Houston's critical infrastructure protection program thereby increasing the city's level of situational awareness and providing the ability to proactively identify security violations, potential criminal activity and more serious threats.

"We are seeing substantial demand for our reason-based video surveillance software and the City of Houston is one of many American cities deploying and developing programs that incorporate our intelligence into their video surveillance operations," said Hobby Wright, vice president for strategic programs at BRS Labs."Our customers are moving past legacy video analytics technology which relied on man-made rules and restrictions, seeking the sophisticated ability to gather video surveillance intelligence throughout their surveillance operations.  AISight is the world's only software that can provide this level of video surveillance intelligence," Wright said.
