MicroPower Partners with Milestone, Integrates with Genetec

Promising seamless integration and streamlined system management, San Diego-based MicroPower Technologies Inc. on Monday used the prominent ASIS 2012 platform to announce it had reached at least two milestones as a company—one by partnering with Denmark-based Milestone Systems Inc. and another by reaching integration abilities with Canada-based Genetec Inc.

The ASIS expo floor provides a cornucopia of cameras; models of all shapes, sizes and configurations are on display, but still MicroPower's wireless, solar-panel-roofed MPT2500 surveillance camera manages to stand out simply because there's not another here that looks anything like it. And that little camera was at the heart of the company's announcements.

As a Milestone Manufacturer Alliance Partner, MicroPower products will now work with new deployments and retrofits of existing Milestone XProtect systems. The two companies' interoperability will allow integrators to build a best-in-class surveillance system featuring the long-range wireless transmission and reliability of the MPT2500 system, which eliminates the need for trenching to deliver power to surveillance cameras, with the Milestone video management software platform.

"Our mission is to continuously expand our open platform's usability by aligning with a range of innovative solutions," said Reinier Tuinzing, Milestone's strategic alliances manager. "Our support of MicroPower's unique solar-powered surveillance technology provides additional value to our customers, particularly those with remote surveillance applications."

The open-platform nature of both companies' technologies simplifies integration, the companies said.

"Milestone is well recognized in the industry for their open platform system and its ability to integrate with a variety of products to build comprehensive solutions," said MicroPower CEO Jon Siann. "MicroPower is greatly looking forward to incorporating our solution with Milestone's best-in-class software."

Siann added that, meanwhile, because of the new integration capabilities, users of Genetec's Omnicast video management solution, which provides seamless management of digital video, audio and data across any IP network, can now also have the MPT2500's solar-powered, long-range benefits.

"Genetec's robust video management platform greatly enhances our ability to deliver the best solar-powered solutions to customers seeking low cost, hassle-free camera deployments in outdoor environments," Siann said. "Genetec's profound market reach will help MicroPower tap into new market opportunities as part of a comprehensive security solution."

The MPT2500's solar-paneled Helios' system is designed to reduce the cost of camera deployment through patented technology that delivers significant improvements in performance and power without compromising video quality or reliability.

Morgan Pasnon, Genetec's senior technology alliance manager, said, "The addition of MicroPower cameras to the Genetec ecosystem of technology partners will bring our customers greater possibilities in the deployment of video surveillance in remote areas. We look forward to working with MicroPower and serving our shared users to meet their unique needs."
