Back to School Means Everyone Must Have a Security Focused Mind

Back to School Means Everyone Must Have a Security Focused Mind

For a lot of schools across the nation, today is the first day of the 2013-2014 school year. I’m sure that this day has been met with joy, excitement, nervousness, stress and possibly a twinge of sadness, as schools that have suffered from tragedy must trudge on in an effort to educate the young minds that enter their doors.

Throughout the summer months, most school districts have been heightening their school security measures by:

  • Installing surveillance cameras and access control systems;
  • Hiring security guards and resource officers; and
  • Training administration, teachers and staff with active shooter safety drills.

With budget constraints as well as no clear consensus on the absolute best way to protect students, teachers and staff within the school environment, the following video details how some Connecticut schools are making their schools safer.
