Author Cancels College Visit over Gun Policy and Security

A radio and TV talk show host abruptly canceled an appearance at TCU where she was scheduled to discuss her new book ‘Hands Off My Gun.’

Dana Loesch was scheduled for a book-signing event at TCU on Sunday afternoon, but said in a blog post that she felt uncomfortable with the security arrangements. The private school is a gun-free zone, and Loesch said TCU was unable to provide her with the necessary security in exchange for her not carrying a firearm on campus.

“We just found this afternoon that TCU is unable to provide security, and because it is a gun-free zone, I am prohibited from lawful carry in place of that security,” she wrote.

Caleb Chappell, president of the TCU College Republicans said they could have worked out an agreement with Loesch to address her security concerns.

The school said in a statement that it wasn’t able to accommodate additional security on short notice, and that “both parties mutually decided to postpone the event and re-schedule at a time when they can plan and prepare the event to each party’s satisfaction.”
