BCDVideo Introduces Second-generation SMARTcontrol Management Suite

BCDVideo has announced the release of their second-generation of its SMARTcontrol Management Suite. The system-monitoring package comes standard on all of BCDVideo's enterprise access control and video recording platforms. SMARTcontrol 2.0 takes system monitoring to the next level - simply and proactively.

SMARTcontrol 2.0 is unlike any system monitoring available. It not only alerts you when something is wrong, but can tell you what is wrong. SMARTcontrol 2.0 makes troubleshooting easy and saves time by indicating what needs attention within the system. The performance panel allows a single-pane view into the system, graphing and logging performance. SMARTalert panel can even prevent failure before it occurs with behavior monitoring and can be integrated with VMS software.  SMARTsupport feature opens up a ticket straight to the BCDVideo tech support team or the integrator (dependent on preference.) While the SMARTvault and SMARTrestoration features can help you restore your system in minutes.

"SMARTcontrol offers a dashboard of the status of the critical components and the ability to set alerts based on performance," stated Tom Larson, director of Sales and Engineering for BCDVideo.  "This can be extended to anything attached within that network. The BCDVideo mission continues to be delivering the technology that can help reduce overall costs through the project duration and beyond."

SMARTcontrol 2.0 now monitors 24 parameters including CPU, memory, hard drive, network, and CPU temperature. The performance panel allows a look into your system settings in a single screen, while the performance graph allows a visual quick shot view of the system's health. The software simultaneously logs past system behavior up to 48 hours to track patterns in system behavior.

The SMARTalert monitoring panel allows for proactive failure prevention with system behavior monitoring that can be integrated within the VMS software. SMARTalert allows the administrator to set up custom monitoring settings on a feature-by-feature basis. Thresholds can be set to customize when alerts are sent out. This diagnostic framework can monitor CPU, RAM, temperature, hard drive failure and usage. With this feature, alerts can be tracked before hardware failures occur to ensure zero down time for the system.

SMARTvault is a motherboard module that allows integrators to save configuration files. SMARTcontrol 2.0 includes an auto save feature. This allows the system to automatically save the latest configuration settings in a safe location and can be set to save hourly, weekly, or monthly. Should the need to restore your server settings arise, SMARTrestoration works with the SMARTvault to the original operating system and VMS image. This is bootable from anywhere in the world and allows the administrator to override a corrupt operating system and start with a clean system without having to be at the premises.

BCDVideo is changing the market by offering this system monitor standard on the Nova and SuperNova product platform.

    Luma x20

Snap One has announced its popular Luma x20 family of surveillance products now offers even greater security and privacy for home and business owners across the globe by giving them full control over integrators’ system access to view live and recorded video. According to Snap One Product Manager Derek Webb, the new “customer handoff” feature provides enhanced user control after initial installation, allowing the owners to have total privacy while also making it easy to reinstate integrator access when maintenance or assistance is required. This new feature is now available to all Luma x20 users globally. “The Luma x20 family of surveillance solutions provides excellent image and audio capture, and with the new customer handoff feature, it now offers absolute privacy for camera feeds and recordings,” Webb said. “With notifications and integrator access controlled through the powerful OvrC remote system management platform, it’s easy for integrators to give their clients full control of their footage and then to get temporary access from the client for any troubleshooting needs.” 3
