Mexican Drug Lord Escapes Prison for the Second Time

The drug kingpin known as El Chapo has escaped from a maximum security prison

Joaquin Guzman, also known as “El Chapo,” has escaped from a maximum security prison in Mexico for the second time over the weekend.

According to reports, there was a 50 minute gap between the time he was last seen during a daily medicine delivery to the moment he was no longer visible on the internal video camera system.

After an alert was sent out, guards found a small opening in the shower of his cell. Guzman allegedly climbed through the opening, up a ladder, and through a tunnel of PVC pipes that stretched over a mile long in order to escape via a small home built near the prison.

This is the second escape from prison for Guzman; the first coming in 2011 when it is believed he received help from prison guards.
