Two people are dead and three remain hospitalized after nearly 20 people were shot at a nightclub early Monday morning.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. just outside Club Blu, a nightclub that had been offering a “Swimsuit Glow Party” open to all ages the night of the shooting.

16 people were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital, ages ranging from 12 to 27. One died at the hospital, while three still remain hospitalized this morning. Others were treated and released within hours of the incident.

Two suspects were detained before 5:30 a.m. on Ortiz Avenue between Luckett and Ballard, Fort. Myers Police Capt. Jim Mulligan said. Police have also recovered the weapons used in the shooting.

A Facebook post from the club stated that there was armed security inside and outside during the event.
