‘Patriots Day’ Tells Story behind Boston Marathon Bombing

Just over three and a half years after two pressure cooker bombs exploded 12 seconds apart killing 3 people and injuring 264 more at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, Mark Walberg is starring in the movie about the events of that day.

“Patriots Day” is a biographical drama based on the book “Boston Strong” by Casey Sherman and Dave Wedge. The movie is a second by second retelling of the day, shown through interlocking stories of a cop (Walberg) drawn into the investigation, the Tsarnaev brothers, who staged the attack; and various victims, from those caught in the blasts, to the MIT police officer shot by the brothers to the Chinese exchange student who was carjacked by the Tsarnaevs.

“Patriots Day” will have a limited release to select theaters on December 21 and can be found nationally on January 13.
