Live From ISC West 2023: Post-Show Recap

ISC West 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada, is in the rearview mirror, and I think all attendees can agree that it was a smashing success from start to finish. We’d like to thank our Live From partners one more time for letting us be their megaphone and help spread the word about their presence at the show. Thanks to NAPCO Security, Alibi Security, Vistacom, RGB Spectrum, and DoorKing for their openness and hospitality, as well as for the fantastic solutions they brought to Las Vegas. In addition to the recaps below, be sure to visit the @SecurToday Twitter account for video interviews, product demonstrations, and photos from the show floor!

NAPCO Security Technologies Inc.

NAPCO Security Technologies Inc. brought its array of electronic security devices; commercial fire alarm, access control, and locking applications; wireless recurring communication services for access control; and school safety solutions to its brand-new trade show booth. The main attraction was the Prima Super Panel, an all-in-one 7” panel that controls security, fire, HD Video, and Z-Wave Plus automation. Prima also boasts a five-minute installation including on-screen how-to tutorials and account creation, one-button video camera activation, and a “go-live” central station connect feature. NAPCO hosted an intro class to the product on Thursday afternoon.

Other products on display included the FireLink XL FACP, a cellular 128-to-255-point fire alarm control panel; AirAccess, a cell- or cloud-based access control system; StarLink MAX Fire, a 5G LTE-M sole or dual path cellular commercial fire alarm communicator; and E-Access, an embedded access control platform scalable up to 500 doors.

Alibi Security

Alibi Security returned to ISC West for the first time in more than ten years. One of the best-kept secrets serving dealer and integrator channel partners, the entire company is structured around providing customer support and promotion for its dealer partners. Support includes U.S.-based technical support with 90-second call pickup times; U.S.-based dedicated account managers that act as a single point of contact for dealers’ needs; regional field support and centralized shipping; new technology solutions; and a wide array of free sales and marketing resources and tools that bear the dealer’s brand.

Its demo stations offered looks at traditional video security; Alibi Cloud VS, an enterprise-level cloud surveillance system with a secure camera-to-cloud architecture that eliminates the most common failure points; Alibi Hybrid Cloud, which offers cloud-based video storage and AI-based analytics alongside a traditional on-premise security system; and Alibi Arsenal, which provides free sales and marketing tools and resources including a dealer-branded website, customer reviews engine, email marketing campaigns, and social media marketing.

RGB Spectrum

RGB Spectrum focused its show presence on integrated video solutions including updates to its Zio portfolio and a new partner program. The Zio portfolio offers better decision-making tools by letting users view data sources, applications, and video feeds, as well as the ability to deliver any of the above to any destination. The Zio platform offers Video-over-IP components like encoders, decoders, multiviewers, video wall processors, and recorders. The new Zio D2100 AV-over-IP decoder is a low-cost, small decoder device that works best for large security operations with little space to spare. It also offers video resolutions of up to 4K/60 and variable bitrates for transmission over WANs, LANs, and mobile devices.

It also debuted a new tiered partner program, the Certified Partner Program divided into Silver and Gold Partners. Each level has specific revenue and training requirements with increasing benefits. RGB will soon offer new training and support resources, as well.

Vistacom

Vistacom, located just outside the entrance to the show floor, enjoyed three days of heavy traffic. It continued to showcase the Vistacom SecureView, a command center kit with do-it-yourself video wall assembly that comes preconfigured with processing capabilities and touch-panel controls. The control room solution is best suited for small or medium-sized organizations and offers remote support, as well as a wide variety of configurations to choose from.

DoorKing

Lastly, DoorKing displayed its array of access control systems, vehicular gate operators, parking control products, and vehicle barrier products. The three main products of note were the ProxPlus Secure card readers and cards, the vehicular wedge barrier system, and the Model 2112 residential video entry system.

The ProxPlus Secure card readers offer a higher degree of security than standard 125 KHz proximity card reader systems. These standard cards can be cloned by products available on the internet, letting almost anybody duplicate cards and gain access into secure facilities. The ProxPlus Secure card readers read only ProxPlus Secure cards, adding a unique encryption that can only be read by a ProxPlus Secure reader.

The 1625 Wedge Barrier was designed for use by car-rental agencies to help prevent vehicle theft. The raising and lowering arm illuminates between red and green to signal when vehicles can pass through, and it includes a sensor edge that makes the arm go back up if it strikes anything. The ground-level wedge plate also raises and lowers to prevent cars from passing through as necessary. The product is brand new and just began shipping in March 2023.

Finally, the DoorKing 2112 eVolve video entry system allows voice and video calling, as well as access management from anywhere thanks to the DKS Cloud. Homeowners or system users thousands of miles away can grant entry to guests and take video or voice calls in broadcast mode. Users can download an app that offers full functionality. The 2112 can control up to three entry points and operates with an Internet or optional cellular connection.

Conclusion

Thanks again to all of our partners for their time and expertise! Remember to keep abreast of the Security Today website and social media feeds for other news from ISC West. Thanks for reading and we’ll see you in Dallas in September for GSX!
