Security Industry Association Releases Version 2.2.2 of SIA Open Supervised Device Protocol Standard

The Security Industry Association (SIA) has released version 2.2.2 of SIA Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP), an access control communications standard developed by SIA to improve interoperability among access control and security products.

SIA OSDP is an access control communications protocol standard maintained by SIA to improve interoperability, add advanced functionalities and support an AES-128 encryption for security. In use by many leading manufacturers, the SIA OSDP standard is recommended for access control installations that require advanced security or will be used in government and other higher-security settings. Maintained and developed by the SIA OSDP Technical Subcommittee, OSDP was approved as an international standard by the International Electrotechnical Commission in 2020 and has been published as IEC 60839-11-5. The standard holds one active patent (US-7853789-B2).

SIA OSDP version 2.2.2 resolves errors that had appeared in the short-lived 2.2.1 update and introduces proper supervised input states, addressing previous issues.

Learn more about SIA OSDP here. SIA OSDP version 2.2.2 can be purchased through the SIA online store at $50 for SIA members and $200 for nonmembers.

In 2020, SIA introduced SIA OSDP Verified, a comprehensive testing program that validates a device’s conformance to the SIA OSDP standard and related performance protocols.
