H.265 High Efficiency Coding - Video Compression for Security Applications

H.265 (also known as High Efficiency Video Coding, or HEVC) was jointly developed by
the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group and the ISO/IEC Moving Pictures Experts Group,
the same groups that worked together on the H.264 (or Advanced Video Coding, AVC)
video compression standard. H.264 has been a very popular and successful compression
standard in several markets including security; it was used as the coding and playback
engine in video applications including QuickTime, Vimeo, YouTube, and Blu-ray disc
players, as well as a wide range of digital security cameras, transmission, and recording
devices.
