Web-Based Electronic Notification System Designed To Alert During Emergency Or Routine Situations

ADT Security Services recently announced the availability of ADT Select Link, a Web-based electronic notification system that is designed to alert thousands of people in emergency or routine situations. ADT Select Link quickly communicates via telephone, cell phone, e-mail, digital pager, fax machine and wireless PDA device. Each user can choose a preferred communication device.

The service can send emergency, priority and routine messages to thousands in a school community, office buildings and government facilities, as well as to emergency responders.

“With its ability to reach thousands of people very quickly through multiple communications devices, ADT Select Link is ideal for any organization that needs to notify large numbers of people with emergency or even routine operational information,” said Patrick Fiel, ADT’s public safety advisor.

Schools can keep parents notified of weather closings or remind them of teacher conferences; universities can warn students of a dangerous or suspicious person on campus or a campus closure; government organizations or corporations can alert employees to chemical hazards or even changes in their daily schedules.

ADT Select Link requires no software or system installation and accepts message input from an Internet-connected computer or any telephone. A designated staff member simply types in or records a voice message into the Web-based system and designates which recipients need to receive the information. Should a computer not be available during an emergency situation, the staff member may call a toll-free number to reach an ADT Select Link representative available 24 hours a day -- who will then compose and send the message.

The receipt of every message is automatically verified and recorded, while busy signals or no-answers result in repeated calls until the message is received. The same information reaches every recipient, delivering voice and text in a choice of 10 languages including English, Spanish, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Vietnamese.

“During an emergency, information can help to save lives, reduce injuries and limit property damage,” Fiel said. “The addition of timely, accurate information from ADT Select Link can significantly expand the abilities of authorities during a crisis situation.”
