Aimetis Platform To Be Installed At Munich Airport Terminal

Aimetis Corp., a provider of intelligent IP video surveillance software, recently announced that Aimetis Symphony will be installed as the video surveillance software platform in Munich Airport’s Terminal One.

Aimetis Symphony provides the airport with a single platform for upgrading the existing analog CCTV system to operate over an IP network and for integrating the video surveillance system with other systems also operating on the network, such as, the command center software, burglar alarm and fire alarm systems.

“The upgraded video surveillance system is a critical component of the airport security and operations,” said Michael Zaddach, manager of IT service for the Munich Airport. “Aimetis Symphony will assure the smooth flow of operations, help to prevent and solve crimes and will provide emergency crews with the information they need in special situations.”

Aimetis has partnered with Alcatel-Lucent, who will provide system integration and project management to deliver a turnkey solution for the largest and most innovative IP CCTV project in Germany.

“Aimetis Symphony is the centerpiece of our solution offering,” said Carsten Smago, manager services for Alcatel Germany. “It allowed us to meet all the client’s video surveillance requirements for scalability, performance and price.”

Initially, Munich Airport will install Aimetis Symphony Professional licenses for approximately 800 new and existing analog and IP cameras. The number of cameras is estimated to increase to 3,000 as the airport grows and expands. Aimetis Symphony also provides the airport with the ability to upgrade individual cameras with video analytics as required.

Munich Airport is among the top 30 airports in the world in terms of passenger volume, handling approximately 34 million passengers in 2007. It has been named Best Airport in Europe for the last four years and ranked fifth worldwide in 2008 for high quality and efficiency in an annual survey of more than 8 million passengers conducted by independent aviation market research firm, Skytrax.

“Aimetis is extremely pleased that Munich Airport has selected Aimetis Symphony as their video surveillance platform,” said Jurgen Heller, vice president of enterprise sales for Aimetis Corp. “Our goal, together with Alcatel-Lucent, is to help clients like Munich Airport easily migrate from legacy analog systems to integrated and intelligent IP video surveillance solutions with a single software platform.”
