BridgeWave Communications Providing Network Backbone To Support Video Surveillance Traffic At Super Bowl

BridgeWave Communications recently announced that its AR80 gigabit wireless gear is providing the network backbone to support video surveillance traffic during Super Bowl XLIV Sunday at Sun Life Stadium in Miami. The system also was used during the Pro Bowl Jan. 31.

To ensure the highest level of public safety for more than 75,000 attendees at Super Bowl XLIV, local and government law enforcement agencies, including the Miami Dade Police Department  Homeland Security Section, the FBI, and the Miami Dade County Fire Department, have deployed the latest high-tech video surveillance systems to monitor everything from crowd control to potential terrorist activity. Additionally, the system will play a critical role in aiding first responders to any incidents throughout and around the venue.

Aware Digital, a leading provider of IP-based video surveillance systems, was tasked with delivering a solution that would provide the best quality and highest frame rate to all the agencies involved in the most flexible and efficient manner possible. BridgeWave’s AR80 was selected to provide the backhaul network, driving video traffic from the IP-based cameras back to the central command station.

“The BridgeWave solution was deployed in order to provide the absolute highest quality and highest frame rate video coverage and deployment flexibility for the Super Bowl, a worldwide event,” says Joshua Mann, president of Miami-based Aware Digital.

In addition to its portable design, which allows for quick deployment, the AR80 offers ultra-high capacity gigabit Ethernet speeds to handle the large volume of video traffic expected for these events. Also, the ultra-low latency afforded by the AR80 allows law enforcement officials to operate the full PTZ IP-based cameras without any degradation to the quality of the images.

“BridgeWave is pleased to be a part of the team providing reliable and flexible video surveillance backhaul support for the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl events,” said Amir Makleff, president and CEO of BridgeWave. “In recent years, more law enforcement agencies like Miami Dade County Police are realizing the need for products like ours as an essential piece in the deployment of video surveillance systems.”
