ISC West Focuses On Solutions

Now that ISC West is over, the task at hand is sorting through all the new products for placement in future issues, touching base with industry contacts and reflecting on the state of the industry.  One popular theme this year focused on companies positioning to offer solutions instead of products.

For example, ISC Solutions was unveiled at the SIA New Product Showcase, which replaces ISC East this year in New York.  The reinvented show will target end users, the majority of the attendees, and will present the products and solutions for the vertical sectors in health care, retail, education/campus and government. The exhibits will be segmented by technology/applications, and a new “solutions hub” will serve as a resource center, offering organized information for end users.

In another example, Arecont Vision announced their sponsorship for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games at ISC West.

When Lexington, Ken., learned that the 16-day event will be hosted at the Kentucky Horse Parkthe first time the event will be hosted by a U.S. city -- the Lexington municipality contacted EMC Corp. and said they needed a security solution, and not disparate products, for this event.

The Kentucky Horse Park, a 1,200-acre working horse farm, will welcome more than a half a million guests, more than 900 multi-million-dollar equines and 800 athletes, representing 60 countries -- all of whom need the best protection to ensure the game’s success. The event also draws 500 million television viewers worldwide so security is paramount. Arecont will be partnering with EMC Corp., Orion Systems Group, Theia Technologies and Verint Systems to deploy more than $1 million in security products, with Arecont as the sole megapixel camera provider. The 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games will take place from September 25 through October 10

And finally, Niscayah, a security partner that assumes customers’ total security needs, announced their equipment leasing opportunity called Flex Choice Plus that specifically targets customers who made large investments in security equipment that will be aged out within 36 months. With this solution, Niscayah buys back the invested equipment so the company can remove the expense from their balance sheets and in turn, Niscayah provides managed services with one fixed cost of operations. This results in a customized, long-term, cost-effective solution for the customer.

With ISC West behind us, we look forward to ASIS, which will be hosted in our home city of Dallas, and is the show where we will announce the winners of our New Product of the Year Awards.  If you think your product is a winner, download an entry form at http://secprodonline.com/pages/product-of-the-year-award.aspx and enter it today.
